Campus Resources


Whether you need tutoring, help adjusting to student life, a check on your health (mental or physical) or something else, KU offers a wide variety of resources to our students.

Although it's not a comprehensive list, here are some of the areas that offer support.

University Academic Support Centers (UASC)

University Academic Support Centers provides a variety of academic support programs designed to support learning for all KU students. We offer course-specific peer tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, writing tutoring, and facilitate equal access to KU classes for students with disabilities.

Student Affairs CARE Referral

If you are concerned about the well-being of a particular student, you can submit a CARE referral to the Office of Student Affairs. Staff will reach out to that student to see if there is any cause for concern and if there are campus and community resources that the student could benefit from. University Career Center (UCC)

The University Career Center (UCC) has resources to support you at every phase of your career journey. Through one-on-one career coaching appointments, events, and workshops, they can help you:

  • Explore major and career interests to find the right path for you
  • Start your search for an internship, volunteer, part- or full-time job
  • Develop job application materials to help you land the position you want
  • Pursue graduate school and find the perfect program for your goals and academic interests
  • Grow your network and connect with employers to support your job search

Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS has a team of licensed psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, and board-certified psychiatrists dedicated to confidentially helping students in need. They are available by appointment only.

Student Engagement Center (SEC)

In 2024, the Center for Sexuality and Gender Diversity, the Emily Taylor Center for Women and Gender Equity, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and the Student Involvement and Leadership Center merged to form The Student Engagement Center, which serves as a hub for student involvement, leadership development, impact programs and resources, and community programs. It is home to a variety of support services aimed at addressing the basic needs of students, staff, faculty, and affiliates. 

The Campus Cupboard is a food pantry for KU students, faculty, staff and affiliates. It was created to address and reduce food insecurity among our campus community. The Campus Cupboard is located on Level 4 of the Kansas Union and accessible from both the Student Involvement and Leadership Center and the Sabatini Multicultural Resource Center.

The Pregnant and Parenting Resource Pantry provides essential products and clothing to parents and their young children free of charge. There are no limits to the number of visits a parent can make to the Pregnant and Parenting Resource Pantry in a week. 

The Community Clothing Closet carries clothing in a variety of sizes (XXS- 4XL), as well as shoes, chest binders, makeup, and other accessories at no cost. We are located in Room 102 of the Sabatini Multicultural Resource Center.

The Student Engagement Center 

International Support Services (ISS)

ISS provides an experienced immigration advising staff to help answer questions and process paperwork for maintaining legal student immigration status. ISS also provides a wide range of services and programs to help international students adjust to cultural life in Lawrence, Kansas. From a week long orientation program to ongoing programs to academic support for success, is here to help our international students have a rewarding and fulfilling experience while at KU.

Legal Services for Students

The University of Kansas Student Senate is committed to providing students enrolled at the Lawrence campus with assistance on commonly occurring legal issues. Through a portion of the campus fees, Student Senate funds a law office on campus - Legal Services for Students.

The purpose of the program, which has been on campus since 1979, is to encourage students to seek the advice of an attorney in order to prevent legal difficulties and to provide assistance when students anticipate or encounter legal problems. Legal Services for Students attorneys (or law students working under the supervision of an attorney) interview and advise students regarding legal matters. The office provides three major services: advice, representation and educational programs.

Office of Civil Rights & Title IX

As a One University office, the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX is committed to being an institution that is free from discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual violence and retaliation. They strive for a campus where greater fairness, care, and belonging are integrated into learning and workplace practices and all have opportunities to meet their academic and professional goals.

KU Recreation Services

KU Recreation Services provides University of Kansas students, faculty, and staff with a variety of resources for physical fitness, team, and individual sports, classes, and personal training. Our cutting edge indoor and outdoor facilities accommodate a broad range of athleticism -- from beginners looking to improve their health with low impact exercise, to seasoned athletes aspiring to push their physical abilities to the next level.

SafeBus

SafeBus is a late-night bus route that provides a safe ride home for KU students at night on campus circulator service. It replaces the former SafeRide service.

Suicide Prevention

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now live. Dial 9-8-8 on any activated phone to automatically connect to a crisis call center. Learn more about the lifeline and resources in Lawrence at the Kansas Suicide Prevention HQ.

Watkins Health Services (WHS)

Watkins Health Services (WHS) supports the student’s learning experience through the delivery of high quality affordable healthcare services and innovative programs that promote the health of the student, university, and community.

Wingspan: Center for Learning and Writing Support

Writers need feedback, sounding boards, and other people to coach them while they compose. That's where Wingspan: Center for Learning and Writing Support comes in. It's a place for productive talk about writing, with trained peer consultants to help you brainstorm, draft, and revise your projects.
