Biography

Saturn Sigourney Rage (she/they) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Film & Media Studies, both at the University of Kansas. There they spend their time in affect theory, specifically focusing on joy, inconvenience, and horizons, and how trans* interrupts each of these. Their forthcoming dissertation project studies the affect of joy in this regard, and does so through examinations of contemporary lifeworlds, trans*ed waiting rooms, longed-for utopias, and ancestrally co-written explorations of trans* futurity. They are an autotheorist, a user of trans* as method, and a lover of that which perverts the false binaries.
