Oldfather Production Club: A creative and educational space for filmmakers

When junior film and business majors Jillian Markway and Allison Ruschill first became film students, they found it challenging to meet like-minded peers in the film school. The two decided to take matters into their own hands.

In the spring of 2022, the two created Oldfather Production Club as a way to help students gain experience and knowledge in film production.

“They had this idea in our sophomore year,” Oldfather secretary Emma Steenhard said. “a club that would be able to bridge the gap between actual production and the business side of filmmaking in order to allow people to fill in their gaps of knowledge.”

Oldfather has now grown into a group of roughly 100 students who are a mix of actors, artists, writers, directors and producers.
