FMS Awarding $50 for Every Student Film Accepted to Film Festivals
In effort to help students send their films to local, national, and international film festivals, the Department would like to award students $50 for every film that is accepted to be screened at a local, regional, national or international film festival. While this is a nominal amount of money, the hope is that it will encourage you to apply, and will pay for the cost of applying. Moreover, if a film is accepted at a festival where the filmmaker is invited to attend, there are travel funds that students might apply for through the School of the Arts (SOTA). Film festivals are 80% more likely to give an award to a film where the filmmaker is present, so we also want to encourage that people travel to screen their films.
If your work is accepted at a film festival, please send your name, the name of the film, the dates and location of the film festival to either Tamara Falicov or Matt Jacobson.
