Fresh off the success of its 2014 season, and the momentum created and sustained over the last dozen years, the Tallgrass Film Association's (TFA) Board of Directors announced the hiring of an additional full-time position. Nick Pope, who has been with the festival since it’s inception, has been tapped as the organization’s Director of Operations and Programming, marking TFA’s second full-time consultant. The organization will continue to be lead by Executive Director Lela Meadow-Conner, who along with Pope will oversee a seasonal/part-time consulting staff of approximately 16.
Pope, a KU graduate with a degree in film studies, started with the organization as Print Traffic Assistant in 2003. He’s worked as a part-time consultant for the last 11 years, most recently as Co-Director of Programming. He’ll assume responsibilities after the first of the year. “Tallgrass has been a love and a passion of mine for more than twelve years,” said Pope. “Tim’s (Gruver) vision has grown into more than he could have ever imagined and I can easily say that Tallgrass’ reputation stretches well beyond our community to literally, around the world. From the number of film submissions to the number of attendees, everything about Tallgrass is getting bigger and better. I could not be more thrilled with what we have done and with where we will go.” Read more.
