Professor passes after long struggle with cancer

Thursday, July 28, 2016

We are deeply saddened to announce that Professor Chuck Berg passed away Tuesday after his long struggle with cancer and other illnesses. His wife Beth was with him as were several fellow musician-friends who were playing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" when he passed. Beth said, "somewhere in the middle of it, Chuck just followed those notes right over that rainbow" and is at peace now.

Beth is doing well and sends the following message:

"Love and hugs and appreciation to our whole wonderful department for all the good conversations, and shared projects and fun times over the years!"

There will be a memorial held for Chuck sometime in mid-November, and we will update when the date is confirmed.  In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Chuck’s devotion and impact may make contributions to the Chuck Berg Film Scholarship. Donations may either be mailed to:

c/o KU Endowment
PO Box 928

or made online at: www.kuendowment.org with “Chuck Berg Film Scholarship” in the memo line.
