Bill GilbertA New Opportunity to Give: The Bill Gilbert Memorial Scholarship Fund This scholarship is in honor of Bill Gilbert, a mentor and owner of Kansas City's premiere film equipment rental house The Gilbert Group of Overland Park, KS. Bill was a master at the craft of lighting, electrical and camera work on major film productions both when they were shot locally and nationally. He was generous with University of Kansas Department of Film and Media Studies students by demonstrating the uses and creative applications of a range of industry standard film equipment from his grip truck.

He mentored many students interested in his field who have become established professionals in the field. This scholarship will be awarded to graduating seniors who have demonstrated a passion and aptitude for production work in electrical, lighting, or camera work at KU.
